Gwinnett CIDs Win Out in Battle for Transportation Grants
On June 21, the Gwinnett Place, Gwinnett Village, Lilburn and Evermore community improvement districts all received grants for transportation infrastructure improvements totaling 3 million dollars. The funds were awarded from the Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority’s (SRTA) 2012 Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank (GTIB) grants. The Lilburn Community Improvement District (CID) was awarded a $700,000 grant from the Georgia Department of Transportation. The grant will fund the development of a multi-use pedestrian trail. The grant originated from the Lilburn CID’s Highway 29 Corridor Study which has been approved by the Livable Centers Initiative and is therefore eligible for additional sources of funding.
